Montreal, June 7, 2005 – Today Héritage Montréal unveils the 6th edition of its Great Heritage Calendar. A sign of the diversity and dynamism of Montreal’s network of heritage groups and its institutions, the Great Heritage Calendar is a one-stop guide to the many activities available to discover the cultural richness of Montreal and surrounding areas. This 24-page free publication is the essential tool to plan your outings. This year’s calendar lists 300 guided activities and interpretive events from June to November.

The calendar is filled with information about how you can visit landmark heritage, savour bygone days, explore cultural traditions, and go on remarkable tours and novel hikes. Rain or shine; with family, alone, or with friends; daytime or evening; on foot, bicycle, bus, or even boat — join in fun activities exploring Greater Montreal!

“The Great Heritage Calendar provides opportunities to combine fun with cultural discovery. It offers an extraordinary array of ways for the public to understand and appreciate Montreal’s rich heritage diversity,” explained Pierre-André Ouimet, president of Héritage Montréal.

You can pick up the calendar at Infotouriste centres, libraries, Maisons de la Culture, Accès Montréal offices, Archambault and Renaud-Bray stores, as well as at many cultural, heritage and tourist locations throughout Greater Montreal. In addition to 75,000 printed copies, the electronic version can be consulted at www.heritage.montrealplus.ca.

The 2005 edition of the Great Heritage Calendar was created with the financial support of the Ville de Montréal and the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec. Other partners, such as Tourisme Montréal and MontrealPlus.ca, as well as the 64 members of the Réseau Patrimoine Montréal

Founded in 1975, Héritage Montréal is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and protect the architectural, historical, natural and cultural heritage of Greater Montreal, its neighbourhoods and communities. The centre of a vast network of partners, Héritage Montréal acts through education and representation to raise awareness and affectation in order to develop and preserve the identities and uniqueness of Montreal.
