EDUCATION, AT THE HEART OF HERITAGE MONTREAL’S MISSION!

Dedicated to the objectives it has set for itself as part of its mission, Heritage Montreal believes that pedagogical tools are an excellent way to raise awareness among future generations about the importance of protecting Montreal’s heritage in all its diversity. Through our pedagogical activities, the students will not only discover architecture, but will also develop an understanding of their city and the world around them.

Our activities have been developed in 2017 according to the Québec Education Program for Secondary Cycle One.

PART 2 – THE SQUARE MILE: A NEIGBOURHOOD TO DISCOVER

The goal of this second component of our School Programs is to raise awareness on urban heritage of the Square Mile, its important role in collective memory, and how it is sometimes vulnerable. The students will learn about the Square Mile and will be invited to reflect on and discuss the importance of protecting urban heritage, of conserving these testaments to the history of Montreal, and preserving the memories they embody.
