Since 2024, Héritage Montréal has been offering a series of heritage and history awareness activities for elementary school students as part of the pilot project “Mon patrimoine de quartier, une histoire à explorer”.

Héritage Montréal is offering a series of activities combining classroom activities and exploratory outings in the vicinity of the participating school. The teaching materials have been designed and adapted to the geography and history of the neighborhood, and have been conducted to date at Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption (Hochelaga-Maisonneuve), Sainte-Odile (Cartierville) and Sainte-Bibiane (Rosemont) elementary schools.

For 50 years, education and, more specifically, raising young people’s awareness of the various facets of Montreal’s heritage, have been part of Héritage Montréal’s primary mission. As early as 1979, the organization teamed up with the Musée des Beaux-arts to develop activities for young people and schools. Over the years, partnerships have led to the Archibus and Quartiers de la diversité projects, family workshops in Little Burgundy and, more recently, educational activities for elementary school children, inspiring them to discover the architectural heritage that surrounds them.

This program is offered to primary grades 5 and 6 by request only, subject to team availability during the school year. The Fall 2025 calendar is already full!
