    – Outdoor exhibition about Héritage Montréal’s 50th anniversary in Old Montreal, in partnership with Château-Ramezay

    – Reopening of the 9e du Eaton after 25 years of closure: cultural programming, blog posts, and special guided tours
    – Launch of a planning workshop on the adaptive reuse of Montreal’s incinerators by the Next Generation Committee

    – May 25 – Fire at the Monastère du Bon Pasteur, which housed the offices of Héritage Montréal; the Montreal community rallied behind the organization in the aftermath of the event

    – The H-MTL platform becomes Memento

    – HM celebrates 40th anniversary.
    – H-MTL platform launched.
    – HM, the Daudelin family and several influential figures in the arts and culture community make recommendations in the repurposing of the Square Viger.
    – HM plays key role in the request for the classification of Maison Alcan.
    – HM participates in the Agora métropolitaine and the Montreal Thematic Meeting on Metropolitan Areas.

    – Special assembly held to assess Redpath House file; proposals for Golden Square Mile announced.
    – International symposium, Metropolis and Its Institutional Heritage—The Issue of Repurposing, organized as part of Entretiens Jacques-Cartier.

    – HM takes part in consultations on Sillery conservation plan in Quebec City.

    – Third edition of guided tours of Pointe-du-Moulin and Silo No. 5 held.
    – HM intercedes to save Monument-National block on Boul. Saint-Laurent from demolition.
    – New list of 10 threatened sites launched.

    – Second edition of guided tours of Pointe-du-Moulin and Silo No. 5 held.
    – HM takes part in consultations on the Metropolitan Land Use and Development Plan.

    – HM celebrates 35th anniversary.

    – First Metropolitan Agora for citizens organized.

    – Lobbying for Guaranteed Pure Milk water tower restoration begins.

    – HM contributes to discussions on reforms to Cultural Property Act.
    – Guiding principles established for revitalization of Griffintown district.

    – Le patrimoine à Montréal, les 30 ans d’Héritage Montréal presented as part of Belles soirées lecture series at Université de Montréal.
    – Educational website Montreal InSites (www.memorablemontreal.com) launched.
    – Guiding principles established for McGill University Health Centre on Mount Royal.

    – Training handbook on religious heritage interpretation created.
    – Dalhousie Square heritage circuit and interpretation panels developed.
    – HM takes part in Mount Royal issue table.
    – HM publishes its first list of 10 threatened emblematic sites.

    – Heritage circuit comprising 15 interpretation panels launched in Dorchester Square.
    – Montreal Heritage Network Day links more than 60 heritage and cultural groups for the first time.

    – HM begins authoring feature columns on Cyberpresse.ca website.

    – HM plays key role in protection of Mount Royal.
    – HM collaborates on Montreal Master Plan and Heritage Policy.

    – HM takes part in public hearings and in the Montreal Summit.

    – HM takes part in State of Heritage Around the Lachine Canal.
    – After lobbying by HM, Conseil du patrimoine de Montréal and Office de consultation publique de Montréal created.

    – HM takes part in creation of true consultation mechanisms for Montreal.
    – Heritage Montreal marks 25th anniversary; 400 people take part in celebrations.

  • 1999

    - HM acts to protect Eaton’s 9th Floor Restaurant.
    - HM intercedes against Lépine condo project and in favour of Mount Royal.

  • 1998

    - Advice provided to residents and property owners after ice storm.
    - Great Heritage Calendar launched; 75,000 copies published.
    - HM takes part in actions to save Rue Sherbrooke.

  • 1997

    - Study on downtown churches published.

  • 1996

    - Conferences held in collaboration with Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA).
    - HM takes part in actions to save Jean-Talon Station.

    - HM supports formation of Coalition Villa-Maria.
    - Meeting on world heritage held in Montreal.

    - Coalition for public consultations created.

    - HM on front lines of fight to save Hôtel-Dieu hospital.
    - HM helps organize an international conference on public squares.

    - 350th anniversary of founding of Montreal marked with historic plaques and production of 850,000 pamphlets.
    - Efforts made to conserve Windsor Station in development of New Forum project.

    - HM collaborates on final version of Montreal’s Master Plan.

    - Opération Patrimoine Architectural de Montréal (Montreal Architectural Heritage Campaign) launched in collaboration with city.
    - HM takes part in successful consultation sessions on Mount Royal.

    - Study on conservation of old cinemas published.
    - Sculptures from former Queen’s Hotel preserved.

  • 1988

    - HM lends support to Avenue Mont-Royal merchants.
    - HM contributes to establishment of a public-hearing process.
    - HM takes over from Save Montreal as organizer of ArchitecTours.

  • 1987

    - Archibus (architectural discovery tours for young people) created.
    - Master’s program in Conservation introduced at Université de Montréal.
    - Mount Royal designated a municipal heritage site.

  • 1986

    - Friends of the Mountain founded in collaboration with Save Montreal.
    - Demolition of Redpath Mansion averted in cooperation with Save Montreal.

    - Summer courses offered with Université de Montréal School of Architecture.

    - HM contributes to Old Port Plan; Milton-Parc co-op project completed.

    - HM takes part in efforts to save McGill College Avenue.

    - Conference held on industrial heritage and resident re-appropriation of riverbank access.

    - Save Montreal revives Orange and Lemon prizes.

  • 1981

    - Annual home renovation courses launched.
    - Storefront office, the Centre Urbain, inaugurated; open to all at no charge.

  • 1979

    - Youth program created with Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

  • 1978

    - HM takes part in first public consultation and call for ideas on Old Port of Montreal.

  • 1975

    - Héritage Montr.al (HM) founded to help groups like Save Montreal.

  • 1974

    - Montreal Society of Architecture awards first Lemon prize to Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ) building.
    - Save Montreal begins offering architectural walking tours.

  • 1973

    - Save Montreal created following the demolition of Van Horne Mansion.

  • 1970

    - Windsor Station is threatened with demolition. Michael Fish, Peter Lanken, and Jean-Claude Marsan found the Friends of Windsor Station. Their efforts led to the station’s preservation in 1975.

  • 1964

    - Old Montreal designated a historic district by Government of Quebec.

  • 1960

    - Plans for an elevated expressway in Old Montreal abandoned.

  • 1929

    - Château De Ramezay becomes first property classified a historic monument by Government of Quebec.

  • 1895

    - Château De Ramezay saved from demolition at the last moment.

  • 1876

    - Mount Royal Park, created after citizens petition the city, is inaugurated.

  • 1860

    - Sieurs de Saint-Sulpice decide to preserve two towers of Fort de la Montagne.
