PEDAGOGICAL RESOURCES FOR TEACHERS

Secondary Cycle One

Heritage Montreal offers learning modules developed to support and assist you in your teaching activities. Comprised of activities and essential information on heritage, our teaching kit, available online, was designed to provide your students with all the tools they need to observe, understand and ask questions about their environment. With your guidance and the proposed resources, your students will take a fresh look at the buildings and sites around them; far from being mere objects, they represent artistic and urban ingenuity as well as collective values.

Take your students on a fascinating discovery of the sites and neighbourhoods that make Montreal so beautiful!

PART 1 – WHAT IS HERITAGE?

The first component introduces the concept of heritage to help your students better understand what it means.

In keeping with the objectives of its mission, Heritage Montreal believes that educational tools such as these are an excellent way to raise awareness among younger generations about the importance of protecting Montreal’s heritage in all its diversity. Beyond discovering architecture, students develop a deeper understanding of their city and the world around them through our educational activities.

PART 2 – THE SQUARE MILE: A NEIGHBOURHOOD TO DISCOVER

The second component focuses on the Square Mile and aims to raise students’ awareness of the neighbourhood’s urban heritage, the important role it plays in collective memory, and the threats that can sometimes place it at risk.
