Offered by Héritage Montréal, this one-time grand tour connects two iconic landmarks of the city’s landscape and history—the Olympic Park and Mount Royal Park—by following the only street that links them: Rachel street. From east to west, this 5-kilometer excursion on mostly flat terrain will explore a landscape with a rich history, neighborhoods that define Montreal’s identity, visionary projects such as the Cité de Maisonneuve and the Angus Shops, places born of industrialization and of Montreal society’s movements, as well as interventions by internationally renowned designers, not to mention the current challenges affecting this urban heritage and this changing landscape. By connecting two anniversaries that Montreal will celebrate in 2026—the 150th anniversary of the inauguration of Mount Royal Park and the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Olympic Games—we will touch on the milestones of Montreal’s history, which blends utopian visions with the achievements of the modern era.
