Make a donation to Héritage Montréal

Protect our heritage by supporting Héritage Montréal!

Since 1975, Héritage Montréal has raised public awareness, supported communities, and advocated with decision-makers to ensure that the places that tell our story have a future. Your donation gives us the means to take action today and for generations to come.

Your support enables us to pursue our mission. As donations account for the vast majority of our revenue, they have a decisive impact on our ability to fund our operations and programs.

Héritage Montréal is a registered charity. An official charitable donation receipt will be issued for all eligible donations.

Why make a donation?

Your donation will help us:

  • Create new educational and awareness-building programs and activities to promote greater understanding of heritage;
  • Support our many advocacy initiatives with decision-makers;
  • Reach and mobilize more people through our content on digital platforms;
  • Develop tools for property owners and local communities and provide expertise to support projects that benefit heritage;
  • Engage with decision-makers to encourage choices that support heritage conservation.

A donation of $25, $50 or $100 also helps make this work possible. Every contribution counts.

Considering a donation of $5,000 or more?

Your first major cultural donation

Quebec has created an exceptional tax incentive for a first major cultural donation. It can be claimed only once in a lifetime. When fully maximized, close to 78% of your donation is covered through tax assistance from the two levels of government.

In other words, a $25,000 donation costs you $5,500, but is worth five times as much to Héritage Montréal!1

How to donate

  • A personal cash donation of $5,000 to $25,000, made in one or more instalments during the same calendar year.
  • Only one first major cultural donation can be claimed in your lifetime. The maximum tax benefit is obtained with a $25,000 donation.
  • Your spouse has their own eligibility. A couple may therefore each make a qualifying first major cultural donation.
  • The donation must be received no later than December 31 in order to be claimed on your tax return for that year.

What your donation makes possible

  • $5,000: helps support our awareness-building activities for emerging heritage professionals
  • $10,000: helps us organize training sessions for our volunteer guides
  • $25,000: helps support the work of our Policy Department in protecting heritage buildings

Considering such a donation? We would be happy to discuss it with you. We also encourage you to consult your accountant or tax advisor to confirm your eligibility and determine the amount that is right for you.
